What is a Stirling Engine?
A Stirling engine is an external combustion engine. Theoretically, the Stirling engine is the most efficient heat engine feasible. Some prototypes built by the Dutch company Phillips at 50’s and 60’s show they managed to achieve rates of 45%, easily surpassing the gasoline, diesel and steam engines (efficiency between 20% and 30%).
